Website Loading Slowly?

Why does it happen?

Images are the number one reason why a website loads slowly, we use a lot of images on our site and we have to balance quality against size. It isn’t always as straightforward as simply reducing quality and size of an image. The infographic below for example is over half a meg but in this case we prefer to have a better quality image on the page. However we wouldn’t use an image this size on the home page as it is much more likely to end in users leaving the website before it is loaded.

We also use caching software and a content delivery network to speed up our page load times, we manage a respectable score of 85 out of 100 from Google for the speed of our website and we share how we do this with all our clients. Anyway, take a look at the infographic below for a simple and informative view of website loading time.
